Utah Lake Fishing Piers

Fish from a comfortable pier without needing a boat. Utah Lake's piers offer excellent catfish, bluegill, and white bass fishing with full facilities.

Fishing Piers at Utah Lake

Utah Lake has several fishing piers and pier-like structures that provide excellent shore-based fishing without the need for a boat. Piers offer comfortable, accessible fishing platforms that are especially popular with families, beginners, and catfish anglers.

Utah Lake State Park Pier

The premier fishing pier on the lake, located within Utah Lake State Park on the east shore. This well-maintained, ADA-accessible pier extends into the lake and features:

  • Accessible railing and fishing platforms
  • Lighting for night fishing
  • Nearby restrooms, parking, and picnic areas
  • Consistent catches of bluegill, catfish, white bass, and carp

The state park pier is the best place to take kids fishing at Utah Lake. Bluegill bite consistently on small jigs and worms, while catfish provide excitement on the bottom. Night fishing from the pier during summer is outstanding for channel catfish.

Fee: $15/vehicle day-use fee or Utah State Parks annual pass.

Harbor Fishing Platforms

Several harbors around the lake provide pier-like fishing access from breakwalls, harbor walls, and designated fishing areas:

  • Provo Boat Harbor — The breakwall and harbor walls provide excellent fishing access. Catfish and occasional walleye from the breakwall at dawn/dusk.
  • American Fork Harbor — Harbor walls offer productive catfish and white bass fishing, especially during spring.

Pier Fishing Tips

  • Fish near the pier pilings — they attract small fish, which attract larger fish.
  • Try different depths — sometimes fish are near the surface, sometimes on the bottom.
  • Bring a long-handled net — piers are typically elevated above the water.
  • Night fishing from lit piers attracts insects, which attract baitfish, which attract catfish.
  • Use rod holders to fish multiple lines (with proper permits).
